I want to spend every minute in a way that will make me happy.

Klemen Selaković was twice named Young Creative of the Year at the Slovenian advertising festival (in 2013 and 2015), he won the Websi Award in 2014 and the gold Diggit Award in 2014.

His greatest passions are the areas of creativity, design, personal development, user experience and digital technologies. He is always on the lookout for ways to deepen his knowledge of these areas, and at the same time tries to open the horizons for the people around him.

He shared with us his experiences from 2015 and plans for 2016.

“What was 2015 like for me? I could recall many exceptional moments which I will remember forever, and yet I ask myself that question at the end of the year only once. I can safely say that this was (again) my best year so far.

The second victory in the competition Young Creative of the Year was slightly surprising, but also very pleasing. Thus, with just the right measure of euphoria, I again took part in the Young Cannes Lions competition, where I represented Slovenia among the best young talents in the world.

I can be happy that my efforts and energy were noticed immediately afterwards, and I was recognized by portal Media Marketing as one of the 55 ambitious and enthusiastic young people known as the Young Leaders for Tomorrow.

The last year also brought an important decision. One with which I perhaps disappointed my family, probably mostly my grandma. I decided that I would not go on with the undergraduate studies, but will plan my future in an entirely different direction. It’s probably a risky move, but I believe it would be even riskier to do something only because others want me to.

This line of thinking led me to the fact that I gave up on the safe and regular employment, so coveted among the young people, and set sail into the waters of freelancing. I’ve never felt better and happier.

I’ve never had so many opportunities to travel — Cannes, Crete, New York, San Francisco, Istanbul and Barcelona. All the trips came practically at random. I also travelled in my mind, through pages of many books. Last year I managed to flip through 13 of them … and no doubt I was most touched by The Promise of a Pencil, by a philanthropist Adam Braun.

Plans for 2016: I don’t want to lose a single hour doing something I don’t love or something that limits me in reaching my goals. I want to spend every minute in a way that will make me happy. That remains one of my most important goals and guidelines this year.”
